This paper analyses the meaning of several related concepts in an effort to define the virtual community and its relationship with knowledge-sharing. It then examines in depth the operational mechanisms and influential factors involved in the process and provides both theoretical and practical suggestions to enhance its effectiveness, drawing on a typical learning community.
