This paper describes the activities of the Southeast Asia Education Research Network (SEA-ERnet) established by the Center for Education Research and Policy Innovation, the Ministry of National Education, Indonesia on 17 July 2007. The main objective of the network is to provide educational researchers in Southeast Asia with easy access to relevant information and resources.

Although SEA-ERnet was established less than a year ago, it has carried out various activities, such as establishing the SEA-ERnet site, sharing information on educational research and holding meetings for members. Also, in the near future, it will conduct workshops for members to clarify their short-, medium and long-term network requirements. Later, a blended SEA-ERnet (combining electronic and non-electronic activities) with audio, video, computer and web-based technologies will be used to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and resources. High priority will be given to solving various problems, such as: connectivity (hardware, infrastructure); content (language, learning management system); the readiness of those who operate the network (the necessary technical expertise and vision); cost; and policy support.
